As a practicing psychologist with an active practice in New York City, I never felt the need to have a website before. But now that I’ve got a new book coming out, The Bully In Your Relationship: Stop Emotional Abuse and Get the Love You Deserve, I knew I needed a place where people could reach me.
Everyone remembers a bully from their childhood but while most of those bullies seem to fade away as we grow older, the fact is that they don’t disappear; they just do their bullying in private. They don’t operate in the schoolyard or the neighborhood playground, but now do their dirty work in the living rooms and bedrooms they share with a spouse or lover. You also can find them in the workplace as either an employer or coworker.
If you had to deal with a bully when you were a kid, you might have turned to your teacher or your parents for protection. But now that you’re an adult, more often than not if you don’t stand up to the bully in your life, then I’ll predict that your life is pretty miserable.
No matter what your age, it’s never easy to deal with bullies but it’s so much harder if you have to do it alone. And that’s why I wrote my book. In it, I guide you on how to deal with a bully in your life, using the methods I’ve developed working with my patients over the years, so I know the advice I give works. And if you’d like to learn more right on this site, there are excerpts from the book that you can look at. I also have excerpts from a lecture I gave so that you can watch me in action. I’ll also be answering questions, so please write to me.
I had to learn to deal with the bullies in my life and so now I’m on a mission to help as many other people as I can reach to put an end to any bullying they may be forced to endure. So if you have a bully in your life, keep coming back to this site to see what you can do about it. And if you know someone who has a problem with a bully, please let them know that this site exists. Even if we can’t end bullying entirely, together we can put a sizeable dent in the bullying that takes place here and abroad.
